A walk to discover the treasures of one of the most beautiful cities in the world, immerse yourself in its art, its culture and its many traditions, such as the famous Palio, the horse race, known throughout the world. Explore the best of Siena, enjoy spectacular views while walking the ancient streets of the city. The visit begins in the main square, Piazza del Campo, where we will discover the history of the majestic Palazzo Pubblico, seat of the municipality of Siena. Then we will travel a part of the Via Francigena, the pilgrim route that starts in Canterbury and ends in Rome. During our walk we will discover the stories of the important Sienese noble families and we will see their magnificent palaces: Palazzo Tolomei, one of the oldest private buildings in the city and Palazzo Salimbeni, seat of the oldest bank in Europe. The visit continues towards the gothic Basilica of San Domenico which houses the relics of Saint Catherine, we will find out more about the life of the saint by visiting her birthplace, the Casa-Santuario, where Catherine lived with her large family. Finally, we will pass in front of the Baptistery and enter the Cathedral, where we will admire the works of art by Italian artists, such as Michelangelo, Donatello and Bernini.
