Palio comes from the Latin “Pallium” which means “cloak placed as a prize for equestrian competitions”, and certainly is wasn’t invented in Siena … so why do we keep this tradition? How does it differ from all the others? How did it evolve?? Here are some of the questions we will answer on this 2.5-hour tour, which starts at San Domenico and covers all important points of this historic celebration, including Santa Maria in Provenzano, the Duomo and, of course, Piazza del Campo!
